What Is the CDCP?

The Canada Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a national initiative that aims to provide access to essential oral health care for those who may not have private dental insurance. Originally launched to assist lower-income Canadians, the program has now been expanded to include:

• Seniors aged 65+
• Children under 18
• Adults with disabilities
• Now includes households with an income of up to $90,000/year

This expansion means that millions more Canadians can now receive preventive, restorative, and emergency dental services with little to no out-of-pocket cost.

What Services Are Covered?

The CDCP covers a wide range of dental services, including:

• Dental exams and cleanings
• X-rays
• Fillings and extractions
• Root canals
• Dentures
• Emergency services
• Preventive care (scaling, fluoride treatments)

Coverage levels are based on your household income and need, with the highest coverage (100%) for those earning less than $70,000/year.
